My Favourite Photo

written by Brenna Holeman July 11, 2011

Kathmandu, Nepal

My travelling partner asked me the other day, “What is your favourite photo that you’ve taken on this trip?” The question is a difficult one to answer, because in the tens of thousands of photos I’ve taken in the last year there are so many I love and so many that remind me of some great times on this great adventure. This one, however, of a child at a religious ceremony at Swayambhunath Temple in Kathmandu, sprung to mind right away. It is one of my favourite photographs.

Comment with a link to one of your favourite photographs that you’ve taken, and I’ll send you a postcard from Indonesia.

http://flic.kr/p/8Q3sfW is one of my favourites. It’s not one that is outstanding, or of the most beautiful place, but it makes me laugh and I remember it so clearly.

It certainly is a beautiful photo! You definitely captured the curiosity the child holds upon seeing you!

This is a picture I took of my younger cousins while riding bikes in Doon, Co. Limerick, Ireland. It was such a peaceful and beautiful ride, and every time I look at this picture I’m back in the moment.

This one is my favourite. I took it in Bolivia this past winter in a small village where the people only spoke Quechua. These girls were whispering to each other in a language I could not understand.

That photo is SO cute!! I suppose one of my favourites is this picture from Hongdae (http://www.flickr.com/photos/whirofthesun/5142732350/in/set-72157625178398325); I like that he’s mid-sentence in something and we have no idea what it is.
Also, did you get those photos I sent of you and Kerri in the tea shop? They are adorabs 😉

Aw man, so hard to choose!

This is one of my fave photos of all time, though, because it was such a cute moment & an accidental capture.

She was waving goodbye in that cute way that kids do for no reason (she wasn’t going anywhere, apart from down the garden path). And the sun just hit her hair so magically! Adorable.

About Me

About Me

Hi, I'm Brenna

My name is Brenna Holeman and I drink a lot of whisky. No, wait. That’s not how I want to start. After travelling to more than 100 countries over the past 15 years, many of them solo, I tend to write about travel a lot, but I write about other things, too: getting dumped, buying way too much jewellery, and yeah, OK, whisky (none of those things are related, I swear). You’ll find a mix of advice, opinion pieces, and stories on this blog, but either way, I hope to make you want to read more. And up next? I'm about to become a single mom to a beautiful baby boy, the biggest solo adventure I've ever been on. For more about me and what you'll find on This Battered Suitcase, click here .

About Brenna

This Battered Suitcase is not only about the where and the how of travel, it's about the who and the why.

Originally from Canada, all I've ever wanted to do is travel. After eleven years of solo travel and over 90 countries, I'm currently living in London and fulfilling my other dream of becoming a writer. If I'm not travelling, I'm writing about it, either for my blog, my job, or my book. I firmly believe there is adventure everywhere, so long as you keep your eyes (and your mind, and your heart) open. Join me as I continue to look for these adventures. Hopefully you'll find your own, too.
