Tokyo, Japan: A Day in Shimo-Kitazawa and Shibuya

In Tokyo you can eat Vietnamese food or American cheeseburgers or Hokkaido ramen, you can eat at more Michelin Guide restaurants than in Paris and New York combined. In Tokyo you can go to hip-hop clubs or yakuza bars or cafes where women dress up like men and call you “Ma’am”. In Tokyo you can sleep in a tiny capsule or in an Internet cafe or in a Hello Kitty bondage themed Love Hotel. In Tokyo you can shop for vintage glasses, for silver suits, for Goth-Loli dresses, for thigh-high boots. In Tokyo you can see rockabilly dancers or sumo wrestlers or anime otakus or the most fashionable girls in the world. In Tokyo you can explore Shibuya or Roppongi or Shimo-Kitazawa or Asakusa or Ikebukuro and you will never feel that you have seen everything, ever. In Tokyo you can go to an art museum 52 stories up, you can see cherry blossoms in Ueno Park, you can eat midnight sushi, you can make new friends over karaoke. In Tokyo you will become so enraptured with it all that you will never want to leave.
