Tokyo, Japan

Because for every breakfast and every lunch and every dinner you can eat at a different restaurant, because it has the best sushi I’ve ever tasted, because izakayas are the creations of geniuses, because hidden away in department store basements are endless rows of culinary delights, because there are Greek restaurants and Vietnamese restaurants and American restaurants and Brazilian restaurants and everything in between, because I never thought I’d enjoy eating raw chicken or grilled squid or pounded rice or horse meat, because you can order one-litre beers, because it has beautiful expensive joints and rough-and tumble cheap joints, because you could never not have at least a dozen favourite restaurants at a time: that’s why I love eating in Tokyo.

Oishii means delicious.

I’ll be back in Tokyo this weekend; I’m going to try a few new restaurants! I can’t wait!
