The Ballad of The Irishman

by Brenna Holeman

Salento, Colombia

Two weeks ago, Kerri and I walked into our dorm room in Medellin and met a charming and hilarious Irishman. We quickly became a travelling trio, sightseeing (and partying) through Medellin, Guatape, and Salento. Last weekend, however, Chris decided that he wanted to stay an extra night in Medellin for more of the alluring Colombian nightlife, and who could blame him? Kerri and I went on to Salento without him, and, jokingly imagining that he would be forever trapped by the nights of cheap beer and fast-paced salsa, wrote a song for him that stated we thought we’d never see him again. Of course, we did see him again, as he kept his promise and showed up in Salento the very next day.

This video is of us singing the song to him for the very first time; it was a complete surprise. And for the record, he’s actually very trustworthy.

1. Please don’t put hot Irishmen on your blog while my husband is deployed. It’s like… insanely frustrating.

2. Your voices sound lovely!

3. Best. Present. Ever.

4. Amendment to #1: You can put hot Irishmen on your blog, but next time please ask them to remove their shirts.

That is all.

Katie – 1. Sorry! He will probably make many more appearances, as we were with him for two weeks. 2. Thank you! 3. I’d say it’s one of the best I’ve given, yes… 4. I will have to pass that information along to him! 😉

Colleen – Yes, isn’t it lovely? She just bought it in Medellin…
