Havana, Cuba
I completely fell in love with all of the old cars in Havana, just as I knew I would. An archetypal image of Cuba, the cars were indeed everywhere; for a very long time, only cars that were in Cuba before the 1959 revolution could freely be bought and sold, hence the abundance of the classic vehicles. As a car lover, and as someone who has always dreamed of owning a 1956 Chevy Bel-Air, I was in automobile heaven.

I fell head over heels for a couple of pink cars there...
ReplyDeleteI honestly couldn't decide what colour I loved more! They were all so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteNice collection of photos, especially love the first shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ekua!
ReplyDeletewow, I wonder how they maintain the parts of the car unless Cuba still makes those parts. The pictures reminds me of the movie "Greece" :)

Some of them do have their original engines, but most have newer, non-American parts. For example, the 1956 Chevy I drove around in for a day had a Toyota engine installed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your posts. I found them to be very informative and useful.

I don't consider myself a car fan (considering I don't even drive) but I adored all the old American cars when I went to Havana last month. Got some brilliant photos to make the memories last a lifetime!
